Arnau Cadell was a sculptor of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, author of the capitals of the Cathedral of Girona and the Monastery of Sant Cugat del Vallès. We propose you a unique getaway through these two great cities of Catalonia, united by the path and history of master Cadell.

A getaway where you will discover the historic city of Girona with more than 2,000 years old. From the local hosts, you will get to know its medieval part and its architecture, such as the old Monastery of San Pedro de Galligants, the imperial Cathedral with its 122 capitals created by Arnau Cadell or the traditional Arab Baths. In addition, you will enjoy wonderful views climbing its walls.

In Sant Cugat del Vallès, you will enter its majestic Monastery with its 144 capitals, also works of the master Arnau Cadell. You will relax in the Natural Park of the Sierra de Collserola following the Camino de Santiago (Camí de Sant Jaume) and walk through the magical green spaces of the city.

STEP BY STEP

Itinerary

Day 1

The getaway will begin in Girona. After staying at the hotel you will enjoy your first walk through the historic city and discover the local gastronomy.

Day 2

Rosa will accompany you on a route through the city that will begin by visiting the famous Cathedral of Santa Maria de Girona, an exquisite combination of architectural styles that began in the Romanesque of the eleventh century and in which the master Arnau Cadell participated building its 122 capitals. The route will follow other icons of the city such as its Arab Baths, the Walls and the Monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants, also in Romanesque style. Free time to eat in the city before heading to Sant Cugat del Vallès.

Day 3

You will join our local host Domènec to start a stretch of the path of Sant Jaume, entering the Collserola Natural Park where you will pass through the famous Xandri Pine, Can Borrell and the Monastery. You will find a great gastronomic offer in the centre of the city to eat. Afternoon free to explore the green spaces of Sant Cugat, such as the Can Mates park, get lost among the alleys of the centre of the municipality or visit the Mercantic design and art space.

Day 4

In the morning you will meet Jorge, with whom you will discover all the details of the millenary Monastery of Sant Cugat and the sculptures of Arnau Cadell that are preserved. A visit full of history, traditions and culture.
