STEP BY STEP

Itinerary

Day 1. TARRAGONA – REUS – CAMBRILS – PERELÓ – DELTEBRE

Your first stop will be Reus, where you will arrive almost at vermouth time! So you will go to Reus, where our hostess Carmen awaits you. Next to it, you will enjoy the Catalan aperitif par excellence and walk through the city centre discovering its main modernist facades, such as Casa Navàs, Casa Rull and Casa Gasull by the Catalan architect Lluís Domènech or the Birthplace of the genius Antoni Gaudí. Then you will continue your route to Cambrils, where a traditional paella menu awaits you in a Sustainable Restaurant of the port. Free time to enjoy the surroundings and get to La Ràpita, next to the Ebro Delta. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in La Rapita.

Day 2. DELTEBRE – TORTOSA – HORTA DE SANT JOAN

After breakfast you will head to the Ferran bike centre that will give you the instructions to enjoy a pleasant route through the channels of the Ebro, while you observe the rich landscape and its varied fauna. The Km.0 gastronomy awaits you at the restaurant of our friend Laia, where you will enjoy a delicious menu with rice as the protagonist. Then you will continue to Tortosa, where you will meet our host Leo, who will offer you a tour of the main buildings of the Renaissance of the city such as the House of the General Council, the Oliver Boteller Palace, the architectural ensemble of the Royal Colleges (which constitute one of the best Renaissance ensembles of civil architecture in Catalonia), the Despuig Palace or the Palacio Abaria in between interesting stories and anecdotes that will make you a time. After this interesting visit you will continue to Horta de Sant Joan. After dinner, we encourage you to explore the main streets and squares of this beautiful medieval village. Accommodation in Horta de Sant Joan.

Day 3. BENIFALLET – CORBERA – FALSE – PRIORAT

We recommend a good breakfast before going out to enjoy the activities of the day. You have been crossing the Ebro River for a couple of days and visiting its coastal villages, but today you will have fun crossing one of its stretches in Kayak, specifically you will make the route from Miravet to Benifallet, it will be a route that will not take you more than 3 hours in which you will pass through orchards and places that will evoke different aromas of orange blossom and peach. To replenish your strength you will enjoy a menu in the restaurant of our friend Pepo, where his specialty is grilled meats and vegetables. Free time to take some photographs and follow the route through Terra Alta, where we recommend you to stop at one of its wineries and cooperatives. I’m sure you can have a glass of good wine and buy some for home. You will spend the night at the Priorat.

Day 4. PRIORAT – SCALA DEI – PRADES – CAPACAPONT – FRENCH SPRING

Start a new day of your Grand Tour de Catalunya! You are in the Priorat, birthplace of D.O. wines. Prioritize and D.O. Montsant, intense wines with a lot of personality. In the morning, you will visit the winery that shares the same name, since the vineyards were acquired by five families who for years have strived to maintain the traditions of production and winemaking. After the visit you will taste some of them! You will eat at Cornudella de Montsant, before continuing to Prades, where Blanca will receive you to offer you a route through the town, called the “red village” for its monuments made of reddish stone characteristic of the mountains that surround it. You will know its medieval heritage through its medieval heritage such as the Gothic Church of Santa María, the porticoed main square, the Renaissance fountain and its portals. During the visit you will also greet some of its inhabitants and their activities such as Olga and Sergi, owners of a small publishing house and manga comic store. You will also visit the hop fields, a product that has been grown in Prades for very few years. After this interesting walk through Prades, you will follow the Cistercian Route to Esplugues de Francolí, where you will spend your last night.

Day 5. FRENCH SPRING – LLEIDA

Today is your last day, there are still a few kilometers to the end of the stretch and new adventures to discover. After breakfast you have another appointment with the past, in this case with the Paleolithic visiting the famous Caves of l’Espluga. Through large projections on the same skin of the Cave and scenes of virtual theater, you will go back to the discovery of the Cave, the activities that humans performed and their most intense feelings. After the visit, you will eat at a traditional restaurant in L’Espluga de Francolí. It will be your last stop before starting the way back to Barcelona, where you will return the rental vehicle.
