From the city to the desert: Morocco adventure

Day 1. Arrival in Marrakech

• After the customs formalities and collecting our luggage, our driver will be waiting for us to drive us to the accommodation, a beautiful boutique riad where we will receive the first welcome with a traditional Berber tea. We will be delivered with a local SIM card so that we can enjoy the internet anywhere. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 2. Marrakech

• Our local host will pick us up at the riad to start a full visit in Marrakech. The medina with its different souks, the different Palaces, madrassas, the famous Jmaa el Fna Square where we will find one of the most colorful, surprising and charming places in all Morocco and, of course, the icon of the city, the building that marks the maximum height that any construction in Marrakech must have, the beautiful tower of the Koutubia Mosque. Free time to taste Moroccan cuisine and to stroll through the medina, shop or have a tea on one of the multiple terraces overlooking the life on the square. Overnight in Marrakech.

Day 3. Marrakech – High Atlas – Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

• We will leave Marrakech through its bustling avenues to the northeast, facing the impressive High Atlas. We will mount the port of Tizi N’Tichka up to an altitude of 2,300 masl. On the way we will make small stops on the way to get closer to the beautiful landscapes and authentic Berber villages. After reaching the top, we will start a gentle descent, we will enter the Ounila Valley to visit the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou (the ksar, alcazar, do you know?), a 13th century fortress classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. As a curiosity, in this place where many great films were shot such as Gladiator, The Kingdom of Heaven, The Jewel of the Nile, and a long etcetera. Then, by the route of the thousand kasbahs, we will continue our way to the town of Boumalne Dades where we will have dinner and stay in a riad next to the Dades River. Overnight in Boumalne Dades.

Day 4. Dades Gorge – Tinerhir – Todra Gorge – Tingdad – Jarf – Erfoud – Rissani – Merzouga

• We will go to the city of Tinerhir to discover its environment full of kasbahs that we propose to photograph again and again and the impressive gorges caused by the Todra River. Here we will take a walk and discover its sources or upsurges. We will continue towards the Sahara desert in Merzouga, passing through Berber villages on the way such as Tinjdad, Jorf and Erfoud where we will begin to feel the beginning of the oasis of the Sahara in Tafilalet and continue towards Merzouga. Arriving at this magical environment, we will ride in some dromedaries to the camp of jaimas located inside the dunes where we will spend the night in the luxury chaimas in the dunes with private bathroom. Overnight in Merzouga.

Day 5. Merzouga – Taouz – Ouzina dunes

• Today we suggest getting up early and watching the sunrise in this unique place before having a rich breakfast. Afterwards, a buggie is waiting for us to make a fun route in the large dunes of Erg Chabbi. We will prepare ourselves a couscous, we will learn from the hand of the best cooks how to make this emblematic and delicious dish. In the afternoon, the route will take us along the old track of the Paris Dakar Rally to the town of Ouzina. We will make a visit that will show us how its inhabitants live, how they constitute their day to day, for example, sharing the communal oven or, how they grow their vegetable garden in almost impossible places. We will reach the desert of Ouzina to the Riad Ouzina TGM, our second house in the desert where we will stay and diners. The Riad Ouzina TGM has recently been recognized as the best Starlight accommodation in the world by the Foundation of the same name. Overnight in Ouzina.

Day 6. Ouzina – Ramlia – Alnif – Tazarrine – N’Kob – Ouarzazate

• We will meet a nomadic family that seems to us to live in the middle of nothing, we will have a tea with them and enjoy their lives so different from ours and that will make us know a little about the culture of the nomads and how they live in the desert. We will say goodbye to the family and leave for Ouarzazate passing through small towns and many of the sandy and winding sections that were traveled during the old Paris Dakar Rally. We will enter the road through Alnif, Nkob, then take some beautiful pictures of the impressive geologically Draa Valley. We arrived in Ouarzazate in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in riad in Ouarzazate.

Day 7. Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

• We will continue the way back to Marrakech. We cross the High Atlas, crossing, again, the Port Tiz´n Tichka that will make us enjoy those impressive views of the valleys, mountains and Berber villages. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon.

Day 8. Back home

• Transfer to the airport.
