Surrounded by a landscape full of green tones, you will relax pedaling on a bike route through the history and traditions of the cities of Rees and Haldern. You’ll savor some of the most delicious sweet pastas you’ve ever tasted and describe a true recording studio, all in the company of local hosts.

When night falls, Haldern becomes a magical setting: the Haldern Pop Festival is held. The Festival cannot be defined with a single musical genre. It stands out from experimental metal, punk and indie-pop to jazz, classical music and German folk music. The small size of the Festival, the privileged location and the loyalty of its attendees, make it a unique and incomparable experience. Are you ready to live it?

Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival

Arrival in Haldern. Welcome back!

Day 2. History through nature

You will pick up your rental bikes at the store in Gissin before visiting one of the best and oldest pastry shops in the municipality. Its owner Barbara, servant and lover of Haldern, decided not to move to a big city and continue with the family tradition of offering the rest of the world their best sweets, converted today into traditional Haldern , will delight you with an appetizing breakfast; Haldern cherry cake, black bread, ‘Pumps’ cake or nut delights, are some of the great variety that you can try. It is impossible to choose just one! After refueling, you will cycle to Rees, where together with Detlev Leidenfrost, official local guide, you will discover the historic city walls, its legends and its greatest secrets. Together, you will return to Haldern, where you will delve into its history and curious facts that you could never imagine. The Catholic parish church of St. George (third and fifteenth centuries), the Wesendonksche house (early 19th century), the inn of the “double eagle” (19th century) and the Battenberg tower (late 15th/early 16th century), one of the few residential towers preserved in the north of the Rhineland, are some of the magnificent heritage that you will visit. Are you ready to travel back in time? The Jagodic family will welcome you in their restaurant, one of the oldest in the province of Niederlhain. You will taste a menu of fresh and local products. Time to jump into the Haldern Pop Festival.

Day 3. The nooks of a recording studio

Stevens will welcome you in his family home of more than 400 years of history, to offer you a homemade breakfast, based on fruit cakes made with the freshest and healthiest products in the area. With their help, you will choose a bike route to enjoy at your leisure and enter Haldern and its nature. Have you ever wondered how to work in a recording studio? How do you achieve sound quality in the songs you listen to? Where do artists get the inspiration to compose those lyrics that come to us so much? Mattias and Klaus will open the doors of their recording studio to show you their corners, their technical equipment and their precious history. A place surrounded by nature, peace and relax. You’ll savor a fantastic menu at a local restaurant Now it’s time to dance and sing at the Haldern Pop Festival!
