In a firm step towards a more inclusive and sustainable tourism, a consortium of organisations has given life to the project “Creating Inclusive Tourism Experiences and Live Experiences for All in Interior Spain”. This innovative project, selected in the Experiencias Turismo España Program of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, aims to revitalize the local economy and offer adapted tourism experiences, specially designed for older people and people with disabilities.
On September 19, the launch and coordination meeting was held at the headquarters of Turismo Vivencial, located in the Neàpolis building in Vilanova i la Geltrú. During this meeting, the objectives of the project were exposed and the bases of collaboration between the partners were established: Turismo Vivencial, Rusticae, Impulsa Igualdad, Liberty Sur and Boldest.
Among the planned initiatives, they will be developed
Interactive Maps
that will allow travellers to explore and visualize all the tourist resources available in rural Spain, increasing the attractiveness of the offer. In addition, training will be provided in accessibility to local entrepreneurs, ensuring that accommodations and activities meet the necessary standards. It will also launch an
Marketplace
that will bring together these adapted tourist experiences, facilitating their promotion and access.
This effort is projected to positively impact approximately
300 SMEs
, benefiting small tourist accommodation and promoting social cohesion through community activities, thus contributing to sustainable development in rural areas of Spain.
“This project not only seeks to create memorable experiences for travellers, but also to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the richness of our country,” says Antonio Martín, spokesperson for Turismo Vivencial.
To ensure the effectiveness of the project in terms of accessibility, surveys will be conducted aimed at potential travellers to identify their needs and expectations. Constant monitoring will also be implemented through regular meetings between partners, and training will be offered to local entrepreneurs to help them create tailored tourism experiences.
This project represents a significant step towards a more inclusive future in the tourism sector, promoting not only accessibility, but also sustainable development in rural areas of Spain.
The programme
ETE
, acronym for
Experiences Tourism Spain
, is an initiative of the Modernization and Competitiveness Plan of the tourism sector, financed with the
Next Generation
EU through the Ministry of Industry and Tourism. This initiative supports networks of public and private actors working on common experiences throughout the national territory.
