Day 1
We will reach Cantabria in our own vehicle. After settling in at the hotel in Santander, free time for a first walk in the city.
Day 2
Together with our hostess Carmen, we will visit the Magdalena Peninsula, its Castle of San Salvador, we will pass by the replicas of the three caravels that participated in the first trip to the Americas and by its small zoo. In the city centre, we will discover the most important stately buildings. Lunch and free afternoon to stroll through the main streets while we take advantage to do some shopping. Overnight in Santander.
Day 3
We will visit the prehistoric Neo-Cave of Altamira. Next, we recommend you to walk through Santillana del Mar and visit its Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana. In the afternoon, in Comillas, we will visit Gaudí’s Caprice, one of the first works of the brilliant Catalan architect. Overnight in Santander.
Day 4
We will head to Santoña, known for its anchovy factories and cantabra preserves. We will visit our friend Catherine’s. We recommend you to have lunch in the town of Noja, with a magical natural environment and a remarkable historical heritage. Overnight in Santander.
Day 5
We will go out to know the Pasiegos valleys. The Pas, Pisueña and Miera rivers cross the valleys that will take us through the traditional and authentic of Cantabria, such as its gastronomy and the mountain stew that we will taste in a traditional restaurant. In the afternoon, we will stop in Selaya, where we will visit a sobao elaboration workshop. Overnight in Santander.
Day 6
We will know the mining history visiting the mythical cave of El Soplao. The mining train will take us to the cave through the Isidra Mining Gallery. Acoustic and musical effects will create a unique atmosphere. Free lunch in San Vicente de la Barquera. Overnight in Santander.
Day 7
Calm breakfast and departure from Santander at our pace. Return home in our vehicle.
